History
The wicket soil clay has been sourced over many decades from along the Harvey River in the Waroona area.
Roy Abbott the highly esteemed Curator of the WACA used the clay sourced from the Waroona area for the internationally famous wickets going back to the ’60s or further.
Over the years WACA curators Richard Winter, Cam Sutherland and Matthew Page have had site visits to the “Culburra Downs Farm” taking samples and evaluating the soil.”
The same clay has now been called CULBURRA CLAY and is used at the WACA and Stadium and distributed throughout the state to make great wicket pitches.
